Born in Germany, Lydia studied Philosophy and Theatre, Film and Media at the University of Vienna in Austria. At Cambridge University in England she deepened her knowledge of Shakespeare and Beckett.
In Vienna she trained and worked with various theatres. She began as a Directing Intern at Theater in der Josefstadt, where she was soon bumped up to Second Assistant Director and given a part to perform in what would be her first professional play. Lydia helped out as Assistant to both Dramaturgy and Choreography with both the Theater in der Josefstadt, as well as with the Burgtheater, later working as Dramaturge for Drama-X, now Garage-X Theater Petersplatz.
As Lydia began the research for her PhD on London-based Company Complicite, the countless hours spent digging her way through the archives of London’s V&A and RNT led to a realization that she wanted to get back to spending more time creating theatre. As a result she started to train Acting with the Atlantic Acting School in New York.
She now lives in New York working as an actress and a director - spending all her time telling stories.
